Firefly Lane Season 2 Release Date: Renewal and Cancellation Status in 2022!

Firefly Lane is officially back for a second season! The series based on Kristin Hannah’s bestseller of the same name will return in 2022, Netflix revealed on May 26, 2021.

In a YouTube video, Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, who portray lifelong best friends Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey, announced the news. Chalke states, “We don’t have all the answers yet, but trust us, the wait will be worth it.” We guarantee that all your questions will be answered.

Season one ended with several cliffhangers, including the fate of Kate’s ex-husband Johnny Ryan and a major showdown between Kate and Tully in the future (well, technically the past, as the show’s present takes place in 2003, but the flash forwards happen in 2005). We don’t know why Kate and Tully are estranged, but in the season two introductory trailer, Chalke states that the issue is “family related and has nothing to do with Johnny. Nothing.”

According to Netflix Life, shooting on Firefly Lane was completed at the end of April 2022. The lack of substantial CGI should make the post-production process fast. The typical post-production period for a Netflix series like this is between three and five months. This indicates that assuming all goes according to plan, Firefly Lane’s second season will likely premiere between late summer and fall 2022.

Heigl was unable to confirm the release date when questioned, instead tweeting, “No, but it will be in 2022.”

What to expect from season two of Firefly Lane?

There are spoilers ahead! If you haven’t completed Season 1 yet, read no further!

We are left with two very conflicting impressions of Tully and Kate’s relationship at the end of the first season. After Tully finishes her performance, she and Kate make contact at the fire pit, where Tully vows to help Kate get a job when she returns to work. The photo then flashes ahead to a future meeting between Kate and Tully at a funeral, when Kate declares that she never wants to see Tully again.

Season 2 is sure to clarify what happened to seriously break Tully and Kate’s bond. Since this is a show about friendship, we can’t imagine that these two won’t reconcile eventually.

Although the combative conclusion takes place during a funeral, it is unclear whose burial it is. Since Tully arrived to pay her respects, it’s clear that someone close to Kate has passed away. We have two plausible candidates: Johnny, Kate’s ex-husband who went to Iraq, and Kate’s father, who is old. Anyway, a future second season would focus on how this affects Kate and her teenage daughter Marah.

We believe the second season will also be about what happens to Tully’s career, including if she ever puts Kate in that position.

Since Firefly Lane is based on a very popular story, you don’t have to search too hard to find out what happens next to Tully and Kate.
