Bentley’s First EV Will Be Incredibly Fast and Insanely Expensive

Bentley may not have produced a single EV yet, but it certainly aims to make headlines with its first.

In a recent interview with Automotive News Europethe brand’s CEO, Adrian Hallmark, teased some of the stunning specs we can expect in the electric car.

Scheduled for 2025, the Bentley EV will be able to deliver up to 1,400 horsepower and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (9 kph) in only 1.5 seconds.

If these numbers came true in real action, the Bentley would destroy both the Tesla Model S Plaid (1,020 hp) and Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance (1,111 hp) in a race. And mind you, these are two of the fastest electric passenger cars on the road, going from 0 to 100 km/h in under two seconds.

Even more impressive, the Bentley EV promises to accelerate even 0.35 seconds faster than the Rimac Nevera, the breathtaking 1,914 horsepower electric hypercar.

However, for those not comfortable with hypercal-level acceleration, there is the option to go from 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds.

But according to quality mark, this astonishing speed won’t be the EV’s main selling point. Instead, it becomes the car’s “effortless overtaking performance” thanks to the instant torque.

Of course, these specs will come with a ridiculous price tag. The CEO did not disclose official prices, but said at least one variant will cost more than $262,000 (€250,000).

Before you despair, there is good news. If Bentley expects this kind of performance by 2025, we can expect sportier luxury brands like Porsche or Audi to deliver the same numbers, if not better.

Their vehicles usually fall in the $100,000 price range, so these would require less internal organs to be sold.
